Steve Higgins
Tenor Soloist, Musician, Public Speaker, Actor, Director, Producer: Steve Higgins has been singing and touring locally and internationally for over 25 years, performing favorites from Sacred, Classical, Broadway, Ballads, Jazz to Folk musical genres with an infusion of island music from his native Jamaica. In fact, Higgins sang with the internationally acclaimed Jamaican Folk Singers, under the direction of noted ethnomusicologist Dr. Olive Lewin, for over 23 years, spreading Jamaica’s culture across the continents. Equally, his global tours include love songs from the Sinatra/Nat Cole era, nostalgic semi-classics from musical theater, ballads & much more! He sings for major affairs- National, State, Corporate events, Concerts, All celebrations-Weddings, Funerals, Anniversaries, etc. He was the headliner at the Birmingham (UK)Commonwealth Association’s Tribute to Queen Elizabeth II on the occasion of her 90th birthday, has sung at the New York Mets Games, and has presented numerous solo recitals in Europe, the Americas, and the Caribbean.
A Tenor soloist & recording artist, certified by the Associated Boards of the Royal School of music (voice), he has four solo albums to his credit:

He has played leading roles in musical/theatrical productions, such as Sweeny Todd, A Little Night Music, My Fair Lady, Arawak Gold, Beyond the Horizon (for which he was nominated best supporting actor), Pepper, The Rhythm of Life, and romantic musical The Best Time of your Life, which he produced. He has played in Lorimar’s TV series “GOING TO EXTREMES” on ABC-TV, has done numerous television and radio appearances, shows, commercials, as well as voice-overs.
In 2001 Higgins founded the celebrated “South Florida Caribbean Chorale”, which hosts the annual classic Christmas concert series for the South Florida community, and which leads the annual Jamaican Consulate’s Independence Service. For over two decades, he has produced the annual “Steve Higgins & Friends” shows, which included the “Dem 3 Jamaican Tenors” series. His concerts have raised funds for charities including The Haiti earthquake fund, The Bahamas Hurricane fund, The Cayman Islands Cancer Society, UMCOR’s Feed- the Children fund, also The STEP Centre for Children (Jamaica) & The SOS Children’s Village. Among awards received are those from the Jamaican Consulate in Miami, (the Honor Roll Certificate as Change Maker in the South Florida community), Project 12 & the Government of Jamaica. He is Chairman of The Partners for Youth Foundation (501c3), The Olive Lewin Heritage Foundation, Music Director at Epworth UMC& former board member of 2-1-1. He is a certified Guardian Ad Litem for Broward County.
Steve conducts many workshops on Jamaican Folk music locally and internationally, working with educational institutions, social and cultural interest groups, and churches. Steve is one of the ‘Go-To’ persons for South Florida’s Caribbean events as a Tenor Soloist of choice and accomplished well-respected Emcee. He is also a columnist for the UK-based Phoenix Newspaper.
